I know there isn’t any chance to miss this since it is the primary travel item you will not miss. If you are going on a long trip that may extend for more than a few days, then it is ideal to carry a large suitcase that has plenty of room for things, including souvenirs. It is always advisable to purchase a sturdy and durable suitcase that will not break or leak if mishandled during check-in.

Whether you are going for a city break in Dubai or an adventure trekking through the valleys of Rishikesh, it is essential to have a good backpack with multiple compartments to store your travel accessories like camera, cold weather camping gear, chargers, water bottle, books, and other essentials. A backpack with separate space to carry your laptop safely is a great piece of travel essential

Clothes & Convertible clothes

We all know that clothes are one of the important travel essentials for women. Pack a mix of lightweight, comfortable clothing that can be layered, as well as some more formal or dressy options if you’ll be attending any special events or dinners. Don’t forget to take your fashion clothes, beach wear, sweaters, and other outfits that match the weather of the place you are going. Be sure to also pack swimsuits and a hat if you’ll be spending time at the beach or pool. Clothing that can be easily dressed up or down, such as a versatile dress or a pair of pants that can be converted into shorts, can be a space-saving and practical choice for travel.

Portable charger

A portable charger can be a lifesaver if you rely on your phone or other electronic devices while travelling. Carrying a power bank can help you save your phone in unexpected situations when the battery charge is drained and there are no power outlets around. Carry this essential travel accessory to keep your phone charged.

An extra pair of shoes

Like clothing, keep diversity in your shoes, too. Keep an extra pair of shoes that suit the terrain of the land you are travelling to. Be it a comfortable pair of flip-flops, walking shoes, hiking boots, or fashionable high-heels to get into a party, carry them in your luggage.

Travel Pillow

Not just a travel essential for women only, travel pillows are a good companion if you are particular about a comfortable journey on aeroplanes and in cabs. Attach your travel pillow to your backpack without taking up space in your bag and provide good neck support on long flights.

Headphones are a must-have travel accessory not only for women but for all music-loving travellers. It doesn’t matter whether there’s a baby whaling on your flight or construction going on next to the hotel you stay in, use noiseless headphones, listen to your favourite tunes, and enjoy your trip.

toiletries women's travel essentials

Don’t forget to bring your toiletries, such as toothpaste, shampoo, and deodorant. It’s also a good idea to bring some basic first aid supplies, such as pain relievers, allergy medication, and any prescription medications you may need. Make sure that you have a good toiletry bag with a wide range of pockets that have ample space to store all of your essential travel toiletries.

Sanitary napkins/menstrual cups

Usually, when we girls go on a trip, the one item we don’t want to forget is a sanitary napkin. As women’s travel essentials, they always make us feel safe throughout the journey. A menstrual cup is an excellent and long-term alternative to padded days. Carrying menstrual cups allows you to get involved with all sorts of holiday activities without worrying about changing your tampon/pad or, worse, leaking. Since I am not a big fan of menstrual cups, I used to carry sanitary napkins.

Sunscreen & after-sun lotion

Not everyone enjoys wearing a lot of makeup while travelling. Some may not even get time to use makeup on their busy vacation days. However, sunscreen is a must. This is one of those women’s travel essentials that you should not leave behind. Always keep good quality sunscreen in your bag to protect yourself from harmful ultraviolet rays. If you are spending a lot of time in the sun, especially on your holiday to a summer destination, make sure you carry an after-sun lotion to apply at night.

First aid kit

It’s not just to be kept in your cars. Keep this travel essential during your travels as well. Make sure that your first aid kit includes painkillers, sanitary wipes, cotton, bandages, masks, hand sanitiser, mask, eye refreshing drops, etc.

Face Mask

Face masks have become an important part of our daily activities. It’s not just for trips, the habit of using face masks post-covid is still with us. Wear a facemask at all times to protect yourself from pollution and other airborne diseases, especially in crowded places. Buy a few colourful ones that suit your outfit to create a stylish look on your vacation.

Protecting your eyes from the harsh sun rays is a very important thing you need to consider. A pair of polarised sunglasses is a must-have when travelling to a relaxing beach location or places with valleys, mountains, and terrains. Buy a few pairs of fancy sunglasses if you can’t afford an expensive one.

Travel tripod

A tripod is one of the key travel essentials for women, especially if you are an Instagram or social media person. It allows you to take beautiful photos both on your solo trips and on family vacations. It is always good to buy a lightweight one that looks less bulky and fits your travel bag.

Camera & its accessories

This is a travel essential for anyone who loves to take gorgeous photos of themselves and the places they visit. Your mobile phone’s camera may not be the right one if you are particular about high-quality photos. If you are heading on a long trip, carry a camera and all its accessories, including a charger, a good memory card, and other essential items.

Makeup remover

This women’s travel essential is a non-negotiable item for all who are obsessed with makeup or wear makeup daily. The most important thing you want to do at the end of a tiring travel day is to remove the makeup. Be it a natural oil, makeup wipes, or a makeup remover solution, be sure to carry it in your luggage.

Razor or Hair removers

If you are planning to wear some shorts or miniskirts on your trip and are not comfortable going out with unshaven bare legs, it is good to pack a razor in your toiletry bag. Depending on the duration of your trip and how often you may shave, bring some refills/extra blades too. Though these items can be bought even during your trip, it is always recommended to go prepared with these women’s travel essentials, as you never know whether the shops in your area have them.

Like sunscreen, moisturiser is also one of the most important travel essentials for women. Flying will dry out the skin; hence, bring your moisturiser to keep your skin hydrated, especially after spending a long time in the sun. It is always recommended to carry a non-liquid moisturiser when travelling.

Toothbrush & toothpaste

These travel essentials always seem to be forgotten, especially if you do not have a long-planned trip. Though toothbrushes and toothpaste are two things that can be bought during your trip like some other essentials, if you are obsessed with the quality of these two items, you better carry them in your toiletry bag. Sometimes, you may not get the right brand of toothpaste everywhere you go, especially in foreign countries.

If you are very obsessive about deodorant, be sure to carry it in your hand luggage so that you don’t need to wander along during your trip to buy your favourite brand. Having one in your handbag helps you to refresh during the layover.

Waterproof Jacket

The weather may be unexpected in the place you travel to. A breathable, waterproof jacket with a hood is best recommended to not ruin your trip in the rain. Buy a lightweight, easy-to-carry, breathable, waterproof rain shell with a hood.

Sleep mask

A sleep mask is one of the unavoidable travel essentials for women, typically on long-haul flights. It completely blocks out light and gives you perfect sleep during your journey. Some planes will provide eye masks but let’s not take the risk; carry one in your handbag. Silk eye masks are better than cotton eye masks for those with sensitive skin.

Essential oils

Essential oils are one of the key travel essentials for women, especially if you experience anxiety or motion sickness during travel. If you suffer from migraines, headaches, or motion sickness, carry the essential oil you regularly use.

Universal travel adaptor

The adaptor you use at home may not be suitable in the country you are travelling to. Buying different adaptors that suit the travel destination will be expensive. Buy a universal travel adaptor that houses multiple electrical plug styles from around the world so that you don’t have to pack different individual plug adaptors. Save money, stress, and luggage space by using a universal travel adaptor.

Dry Shampoo

Last but not least, if you are a girl who travels on a regular basis, you might suffer from sticky hair. Your constant travel may not allow you to wash your hair every day. So carry a dry shampoo as a convenient solution to save your hair.

Hair Spray

Hair spray is an unavoidable women’s travel essential that you should not miss packing. You will be trying different hairstyles on your vacation. Carry your favourite hair perfume and spray it on your hair to make your waves last long and add a great texture.

Some additional travel accessories that women may find useful:

  • Passport and other important documents: Make sure to bring your passport and any other important documents that you may need, such as visas, vaccination records, and travel insurance documents.
  • Money and credit cards: It’s always a good idea to bring some cash and credit cards with you in case you need to make purchases or exchange money while you’re away.
  •  Electronics: Consider bringing your phone, laptop, and any other electronic devices you may need. Be sure to bring chargers and adapters as well, as the voltage and plugs may be different in other countries.
  • Travel wallet: A travel wallet is a convenient way to keep all of your important documents, such as your passport and credit cards, organised and easily accessible.
  • Travel-sized toiletries: Many hotels and hostels provide basic toiletries, but it can be helpful to have your own travel-sized versions of your favourite products.
  • Packing cubes: Packing cubes can help you organise your clothes and other items in your suitcase, making it easier to find what you need and keeping your suitcase organized.
  • Luggage lock: A luggage lock can help keep your belongings safe and secure while you’re on the go.
  • Scarf: A scarf can serve as a lightweight and versatile accessory, providing warmth on a cool plane or train, or serving as a makeshift beach cover-up. If you want to create a style statement on road, invest in a stylish travel scarf
  • Reusable water bottle: Bringing a reusable water bottle with you can help you stay hydrated while also reducing your environmental impact.
